I’ve always loved the idea that you chip way what doesn’t belong…
I saw his masterpiece, David. There are so many rocks that are unfinished that was part of the exhibit partly done.
I’ve actually heard this one and am familiar with it. It always makes me smile because of the idea of a hidden sculpture inside the stone. I like this one a lot.
I always heard of it as a story myself, but now I found a quote, I couldn’t resist it. 🙂
A famous sculptor is asked how to create beautiful sculptures, like this lion here. The artist replies, “It’s easy. You take a block of stone and chip away everything that’s not part of the lion.”
